MIX RATIO UPDATED!
Epoxy resin for skis and snowboard (or similar products).
Before using, read instruction below!!!

Sei Whale is a clear, all-purpose, epoxy system with high UV resistance.
Mix Ratio is 100:46g for Slow Hardener

In general, dont mix more then 250-300mL in one container, the mix can become too hot and will harden fast.

Low smell, low toxicity! Great to work with and more environmental!

Slow Cure: mix 100:46g. (45-55min pot life.)
Tack-free time for the fast version is below 5h and less than 8h for the slow one. In general keep min. 24h in press.

In case of heat curing (if possible use the CPM or Polar Bear version for compression heat curing), in general at 50C it will cure in 3h, at 60C it will cure in 80 minutes. I personally never went over 60C, for 80C pressing I used CPM/305 or polar bear resin.
Make sure you use a digital scale. Mix by weight.

Make sure you use gloves.

All-purpose Biobased Epoxy System

Description

Sei Whale is a clear, all-purpose, epoxy system with high UV resistance.

Applications

All-purpose applications with variable working times for room temperature cure, with post-curing options. Good for hand lay-up, coating and filling.

Key Features

Easy impregnation of reinforcements and two hardener options. Ideal system for transparent applications.

-Clear epoxy resin with U.V filter
-For laminations and coatings in fiber glass, carbon fiber…
-Sustainable resin (up to 25% from organic waste from manufacturing process)
-Low viscosity
-High gloss
-Mix proportion in weight: 100:50 (for Fast hardener) and 100:46(for Slow hardener)
-Mix proportion in volume: 2 to 1
-Working time: 14-17 min or 45-55min

Tip 1: Mix a pot of 200-300mL of epoxy at the time. Dont mix much more then this! It might self heat and harden in few minutes! Stir well for 2 min with your hand, scrape the edges. The mix can become a little warm, this is normal. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes for air to escape!

Tip 2: make sure you are protected with gloves as skin contact it the worst exposure.

Tip 3: Bio based epoxy can crystalize like honey! If any crystals are present in the Resin, please make a warm water bath (about 50C or above should do, in production the resin is heated to 100 degrees so no worries) and place the Resin container in the warm water and stir til crystals are gone. This is normal for some Resins. Let it cool down to room temperature before mixing with hardener!!!

Application Tips:

  • For best results, measure the two components by weight within 5% of the recommended mix ratio.
  • Always mix product for at least two minutes, scraping the container to ensure complete mixing.
  • Use products in a controlled environment. Avoid high humidity and cold temperatures.
  • Amine blush, a by-product of the curing process, appears as a wax-like film cured epoxy and is more noticeable in cool, moist conditions. It can clog sandpaper and inhibit subsequent bonding. Blush is water-soluble and easily removed with clean water (not solvent) and an abrasive pad.
  • For good adhesion, epoxy bonding surfaces should be clean, dry and sanded.
Mix not more then 250-300mL of epoxy/hardener in one batch. Always by weight. Follow instructions. Mix
well for 2 min. When applying epoxy to fabric, just spread it and let it soak in, dont work it too much to avoid air
bubbles, spread it around and let it get absorbed. If you have possibility to heat up your press, do it, heat builds
better product. Even little helps.
After pressing for the required time, take the product out and leave it to finish hardening. In general, you
should wait some days, up to 7 days at room temperature, before you start cutting and finishing your product,
this will ensure that all epoxy is cured, and that the bounding is optimal!
