A ski/snowboard Base is the bottom part of the ski/snowboard or a wake/kiteboard. It ensures that the ski/snb glides properly and or a wake/kiteboard is well protected and glides well on the rails.
There is in general 2 types of bases, extruded HDPE and sintered UHMW-PE. Compared to other PE or HDPE that has molecular weight of approx. 300,000 g/mol, UHMW-PE has a molecular weight of up to 12 million g/mol.
The extremely high molecular weight gives the special properties of UHMW-PE.
